| For our family, we feel it is up to the parents to educate their own children in their personal Christian beliefs. While Saint Peter Catholic School does have Catholic religion classes, I have not encountered anything as a student who attended here myself, or as a parent of two middle schoolers that conflicted with our basic Christian faith. We explain to our children each denomination--Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and Catholics, as well as other faiths--all have their own traditions, songs and prayers. In our Methodist tradition we believe we can go to Jesus without an intermediary like Mary or the priest. However, we ask others to pray for us, like our bible study teachers and prayer warriors. The main area of concern for our family is that our children are taught about Jesus’s sacrifice for us and our own acceptance of him as our Savior. Saint Peter Catholic School has always respected each student's choice of denomination while teaching and fostering the biblical attributes of a Christian. --Christy Cole SPCS Alumni and Parent |
