Mr. Craig Conticchio
Father Jim Buchholz, Pastor of Saint Peter Catholic Church, has named Mrs. Joan Alexander interim assistant principal.  Mr. Craig Conticchio, the Principal of John Paul II Catholic High School, will serve as Mrs. Alexander’s mentor.
Mrs. Alexander is actively searching for a new second grade teacher to replace her.  Father Jim will form a search committee for a new principal in the 30 days to find a new principal. Mrs. Alexander will be permitted to apply for that position.
About Mrs. Joan Alexander
Mrs. Alexander just completed her 23rd year of teaching, all of which have been at Saint Peter Catholic School.  In fact, she graduated from Saint Peter before going on to high school and East Carolina University to earn her undergraduate degree in Child Development and Family Relations.  In 2001, Mrs. Alexander completed her Masters Degree in Educational Supervision. She has been teaching second grade and was the Director of the Primary Division at SPCS.

Mrs. Alexander is a participant in the Diocese of Raleigh Leadership Cohort program, which helps develop strong leadership skills in our Catholic Schools.

Mrs. Alexander is also a lifelong parishioner of Saint Peter Catholic Church, and two of her children have graduated from Saint Peter Catholic School.  Her third child is a rising eighth grader at the school.

“I am so excited for the opportunity to continue improving our school that is so dear to my heart,” Mrs. Alexander says.

About Mr. Craig Conticchio
Mr. Conticchio is the principal of John Paul II Catholic High School, a role he has held since in 2015.  Prior to that Mr. Conticchio taught physics at East Carolina University before joining the faculty at JPII.  He was named assistant principal in 2013.

When Mr. Conticchio became principal in 2015, the enrollment at JPII was 45 students.  Today, the school is projecting a student population of 150 students for the 2019-2020 school year.

“Mrs. Alexander has my full support, and the Catholic School system in Greenville is extremely important to me,” said Conticchio.  “I will do whatever I can to help.”

Continuing the Momentum
Saint Peter Catholic School has made great strides in the past two years, creating a momentum Mrs. Alexander is passionate about continuing.  Here are a few of the important accomplishments:

  • Creation and publication of a strategic plan
  • Enrollment stability and growth
  • New math curriculum researched and selected for both K-5 and 6-8
  • New middle school science curriculum
  • iPads issued to middle school students for digital textbooks
  • Implementation of Professional Learning Communities to improve the academic flow between grade levels
  • The formation of a strong Advisory Council, along with the publication of a constitution and bylaws to guide the council.  The council has committees, but ad-hoc and standing. Real projects were undertaken by all of these committees and improvements were made within our school based on these committees findings and efforts.
  • An improvement in Catholic identity through having Mass on all Holy Days of Obligation, faith formation and service days for faculty and staff, and the implementation of Dress Uniforms for Fridays.
  • Improvement in communication to school community
Saint Peter Catholic School is honored to be your choice for your children’s education.  We continue to live our mission statement each day, that we build the leaders of tomorrow upon the foundation of Jesus Christ by preparing students in spirituality, academics, stewardship and service.
