Safe Environment TrainingWe value our volunteers at Saint Peter Catholic School. We also value the safety of our children. We ask anyone who volunteers with children at our school (as our church asks anyone who volunteers with children through its ministry) go through what is called "Safe Environment Training." The goal is to provide our youth with safe and welcoming environments in which they can grow in a relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Training is valid for five years. The school and church schedule several training sessions throughout the year to accommodate those wishing to volunteer and work with children. In addition to the training session, volunteers will be subject to a criminal background check. People who are taking the SET class for the first time need to fill out this form and bring it with you to the training session. People who are renewing their certification, which must occur every five years, do not need to fill out the paperwork. The Diocese of Raleigh offers online training sessions. More information is available here. Mrs. Blanchard in the front office keeps track of volunteers needing renewal of SET certification.
