Principal Doug Jones announced directors for the different divisions within Saint Peter Catholic School.  Mrs. J.J. Alexander will be the Primary School Director (PreK-3 through 2nd grade), Mrs. Carrie Everette will be the Intermediate School Director (3rd grade through 5th grade), Mr. Joe Hughes will be the Middle School Director (6th grade through 8th grade), and Mrs. Shari Crumpler will be the Specials Director (Art, Computer, Music, PE and Spanish).

The new leadership roles will go into effect for the 2018-2019 school year.

"Their duties, responsibilities and leadership are crucial for our success.  I am very excited about next year!" writes Jones in his weekly letter to the school community.

The annual tradition of the PreK 4 students crowning Mary with flowers occurred on May 10.  The students brought in flowers either from their yard or purchased from a store to adorn our Holy Mother with beautiful blossoms.  The students have been learning a lot about Mary during this month of May and in preparation for Mother's Day.

Mathematical Expert Shares Passion with Students

5/10/2018

Mrs. Moloney's Second Grade Class has been so fortunate to have Dr. Valerie DeBellis come into class as a guest mathematical expert.   She has been working with the students on ways to become better problem-solvers

This week's big math question was "How many different ways can you arrange six squares together so they will fold into a cube?"

Using six squares and working in teams of two or three, our second grade students discovered how to build a two-dimensional figure that can be folded into a three-dimensional object (called a net).  Not all arrangements of squares will fold into a cube.  For example, a net of six squares arranged into the shape of a Cross will fold into a cube, but a net of six squares arranged in a straight line will not fold into a cube.  How many different nets, made from six squares, can you find that fold into a cube?

If you're not sure ... ask one of our second grade students!
