Oratorical Contest

Each year, our 8th grade students participate in the Optimist Club of Greenville Oratorical Contest. All 8th grade students prepared a speech, and several opt to participate in the contest.
On March 20, 2021, two eighth grade students from Saint Peter Catholic School placed first in local Optimist Club Oratorical Essay Contest. Wright Collins and Lauren Tulis wrote essays that were 700 to 800-words in length, on the topic “Reaching your Dreams by Choosing Optimism.” Collins's Winning Essay Tulis's Winning Essay Collins and Tulis will be entered in the NC East Optimist District contest on April 19. The district contest winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship from Optimist International Foundation. SPCS graduates are known for the solid writing skills, and our students' consistent success in this competition is evidence of that. |
