Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Dear Friend of Saint Peter Catholic School, I pray this letter finds you and your family well as we approach the holidays during this unprecedented year. We typically open our campus to you on this day, for Grandparents and Special Friends Day. We gather in the gym to watch our students perform dances they have been practicing over the last several weeks before proudly taking you to their classroom. While the pandemic limits our ability to physically welcome you to our school, it cannot keep us from allowing our students to show you how much they love and care for you. One bright side is that grandparents and special friends who live in other parts of the country can feel the love this year through our videos! I would also like to take this opportunity to share with you a bit about how our school has operated over the past few months. We faced a difficult task--safely educating students during a global health crisis. However, thanks to the incredible determination of our administration, faculty and staff, the support of our parents, and by the grace of God, we safely welcome students for in-person learning on campus every day. Students have a daily temperature check, and parents must confirm their child has not been exposed to COVID-19 or have COVID-19 symptoms before entering the building. Our students wear masks throughout the day, with appropriate mask breaks, and their desks are spaced six feet apart. These are just a few examples of the dozens of changes we have made in order to host in-person learning. It requires a lot of work, and it’s all worth it. Our students are continuing to meet the academic benchmarks of their individual grade levels while enjoying the important social aspect that school provides. We continue to celebrate Mass each Friday, although most of the school participates by watching a live stream video. Difficult times often bring out the best in people and organizations. Saint Peter Catholic School is a wonderful example of this. Our incredibly dedicated faculty members, parents and students have shown us their very best. We never stop learning. We never stop loving.
