By making the donation and by sharing what they have learned in FLL with people at the Intergenerational Center, our students were applying the Core Values of FIRST Lego League outside of the FLL competition. This visit was an opportunity for our students to use their experience in a STEM activity to do good in the world, and to share with others.
The Lego boxes were part of a Lego donation drive which was initiated by Elliana Proctor (8th grade) of the Saint Peter Wiredcats Green FIRST Lego League robotics team. Elliana, the Core Values Leader of the nine-member Wiredcats Green team, started the drive and invited the Wiredcats Blue team to join the effort. New Lego box sets were donated by families of Saint Peter Catholic School. As a representative of the Wiredcats Green team, she gave her team's donated boxes to the Maynard Childrens Hospital of Vidant Health so that young patients would have educational toys.
