AR
*AR testing will be available to SPS students this summer.
This summer, middle school students (including rising sixth, seventh, and eighth graders) may read middle school AR books and take AR tests which will count toward the first quarter AR requirements for 2010-2011. Any AR book that has a middle school interest level (IL) will count. Before reading, check www.arbookfind.com to find the interest level. This website will list IL:MG (meaning interest level: middle grades) for books that are appropriate for middle school readers.
For sixth grade, 25 AR points earned equals a 100 for 25% of the literature grade each marking period. For seventh and eighth grades, 35 AR points earned equals a 100 for 25% of the literature grade each marking period.
Middle school students MAY NOT take AR tests on the following novels, since these novels are taught in middle school:
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor
The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis
AR test taking will be available July 27th and August 10th from 9am – 11am. You will be able to take a maximum of three tests on these days.
